Something's Burning

At least we got some rain last night - I think 3/10" Amazing how good even that little bit of rain feels. Of course now all the other country bumpkins are taking this opportunity to burn their trash so it felt like we were in a 3rd-world country driving to work this morning. Ewwww, stinky.

Which set me to thinking about how much trash we create in a day. I try to be responsible with my trash. I don't buy aluminum cans, and rarely use aluminum foil. And when I lived in a metropolitan area and it was easy to do I recycled glass and cans and paper regularly. I still recycle newspaper because I have a place to take it. I don't burn! We are allowed to use the dumpster at work, so that is where we bring our trash. And I do compost, so anything organic goes into the composter.

But I feel negligent throwing away my cans and glass and magazines. If I had a place to store them, I might save the magazines to make paper mache, or other homemade paper products. But I don't have space, nor the time to work on that project. Sigh.
I believe God did give us the responsibility to care for the earth and the creatures on it - including each other.
